Getting around Cyprus can be quite a pickle. I think we’re spoiled in other countries with a multitude of options from buses to trains but that isn’t really the case there. The main form of public transport to get you from A to B would be Intercity Buses (trumpets please). They offer routes all over the country between the major cities and also airports. By no means is it a fancy or well-organised affair but it gets the job done.
I got the it from Paphos to Nicosia and it was super simple to navigate. The bus isn’t anything extravagant and reminded me of school coaches back in the day. Everything is quite cramped and the decor is really garish with the chosen colours. A much needed improvement to their ride would be to add power plugs and wifi (c’mon Cyprus it’s 2017). The price is a complete bargain and probably the biggest positive. I stared out the window most of the journey as the scenery is very enjoyable but definitely bring a book with you.
Considering it’s your only option to get around, you could do a lot worse. All the buses were prompt and made great time. I guess the downside is the dated facilities but really who cares? You’re in a new country so get off your phone and look around – or just rent a car big baby.
