I recently got to experience the United Airlines First Class Lounge at Heathrow. If you saw my previous post on the Singapore Airlines Lounge, you’ll know I had a plethora of choice for what Star Alliance lounges I could explore so naturally I wanted to try as many as I could! UA actually have two lounges – one for first class and another for business (you’ll see a small review of the latter in a few days).
Upon entering this lounge I realised just how empty it was. It’s a huge space and could easily fit one or two hundred people but there were four people inside this massive space. In one sense it was awesome having so much choice of where to sit but at the same time I felt ridiculously privileged and a tad uncomfortable (I ended up moving to the business lounge which was more packed). This lounge is very lovely and the decor has a gentlemen’s club feel to it. At the very back is the snack bar with popcorn, mini fridges full of drinks, a cocktail station and a small buffet with spring rolls/samosas etc. There is a circular space that has a wine storage centrepiece which is surrounded by dining tables where you can sit down for a meal from the menu. I didn’t do it this time but from looking at another couple who were, it looked tasty.
There are several sofas dotted around each with their own plugs and USB stations. I found a row of flat beds in the corner and enjoyed putting my feet up and listening to music. Unlike Singapore Airlines, they have individual bathroom units which were spacious and offered cowshed products. It’s a great place to relax before your flight with super attentive staff and everything amenity you could need. Does it differ at all to the Club Lounge? Not really bar being less busy and having a menu for food but if that’s what floats your boat then float on here.
