Well that’s a strong image to start a blog post isn’t it? It was actually a really amazing art exhibit right by my work so I managed to sneak off at lunch to take a look. There were a total of six sculptures made of these metal/wire plumbing and they were huge, at least double the size of me. It was by Tim Noble and Sue Webster and their work is so eccentric, I love it. Anyway, hope you’re all doing fab! Sorry for the lack of posts this past month but I have been swamped from my toes to the tip top of my head. Here’s a little catch up post and then travel posts will resume accordingly don’t you worry!
I am a marathon man! Last week I ran the London Marathon and it was a ridiculous experience. It was quite intense only having my brain to keep me company for four odd hours and through that I experienced every possible emotion. Parts of it I absolutely loved and parts of it were complete torture. At around mile seventeen I wanted to give up and could never imagine doing another one but writing this now I really want to sign up for one more – strange how perspective affects you. The weather for the run was warm and perfect, the crowds were out in force handing sweets to runners and the course itself zigzagged through the city beautifully. I was a little disappointed in my time but I put that down to lack of training and having come back from China three days before. I am becoming a superstar at fighting jet lag though, wahey!
What else is up? I’m back from China as mentioned above and it was so so so good. I haven’t really had time to reflect on it but having gone through some photos today I feel like it was a great trip. Posts will be coming over the next few weeks and I have a bunch of instagrams to get posting. Future trips I’m not too sure. I want to go to Scotland for my birthday with friends but am finding organising that a right mare. I have a week off in June so might try and hit up the Baltics or possibly Croatia? Who knows who knows.
Work wise is going tip top. I’m still trying to find that work, social life and hobbies balance but think I’m getting the hang of it. Been on a lot of shoots this past week which is fun, lots of Tesco and free lunches – possibly my favourite thing in the world. We had a work pub quiz a few weeks ago and my team won so that was pretty awesome as I’m a really sore loser.
I’ve been doing some weekends away to Brighton, Sheffield and Cuckfield which have been lovely. It’s always nice visiting Rosa on the farm (see more of her from my WWOOF post) and getting a break from the city. In the picture below we are planting runner beans and I’m going back in a few weeks so will get to see how they’re doing!
My new year resolutions that I don’t really talk about on here are going great. So far I’ve only broken one (to read more) but hopefully I can catch up on that. I said I was going to buy myself flowers more this year and below are some lovely tulips I treated myself to. I got them from Lidl of all places and they stayed open for about three weeks – a flower miracle! I’m also trying to get into classical music and am forcing myself to listen to it first thing in the mornings. At the moment Brahms and Max Richter are my favourites and well worth a spotify check out. Coming next week my China posts will start so I hope you enjoy and I’ll try to do more updates more frequently!
