Sneaking in a cheeky hotel review of One Shot Prado 23 in Madrid. There are tons of options of places you can stay in Madrid and picking was quite hard. We browsed the usual haunts – TripAdvisor and Hotels.com, and found this place as they were reasonably priced and in a decent location. The whole ethos of the hotel seemed pretty interesting too as they’re very modern and comfortable in their aesthetic.
First impressions and the hotel was quite kooky. There are statues of heads as you walk into reception and lots of very bright art dotted around. The reception staff were super duper friendly with lots of great local tips and advice. Definitely grab a map from them and ask them to circle interesting bits and bobs on it – they had awesome recommendations which you’ll see in my Madrid post soon. I think a really eclectic mix of people stay here from families to students to average adults like us.
Boom boom up to the room. We were at the end of the hall so our room was quite a weird, long shape. There were two beds, TV, safe, mini fridge aka all the usuals. The windows faced an inner square (that all the hotel rooms looked out on) and there was a very strange sheep in a lightbulb painted on the wall. I really liked the interior design and supplied amenities. They give you toiletries and the strangest toothpaste in the world. It’s a weird mix of herbs and cinnamon (we ended up going out to a pharmacy to buy toothpaste as it was too much). If you need someone cosy and stress-free go for this place and you’ll have a really pleasant stay.
