Wow 2016 has flown by. Last year I did a recap of my posts/what I got up to and figured it was worth doing the same this year. If you’re curious this was my 2015. Again there are a ton of links but I quite enjoy reflecting on the year travel wise and seeing all the adventures I went on! Maybe this post is quite selfish haha.
January – I kicked off the new year by going to visit friends in Bristol. It was an amazing weekend full of dancing, fun and I guess a more personal look into my travels. I think when most people consider visiting England they think of London, Brighton or somewhere up north like Liverpool and Manchester but Bristol is a great option! I did two posts on what to do and what to eat if you fancy a gander. I also put up my trip from Barcelona which was absolutely lovely. It’s such a beautiful city and well worth exploring. Sunshine, amazing architecture and great food – what more do you need? Gaudi is a genius and just getting lost is a delight. There were also a few reviews here and there of National Express, BoltBus and Vueling.
February – A new life chapter started in this month and I moved to Israel. It was always going to be temporary but still quite a shock to the system. I had the best time and plan on going back in 2017 for a few weeks. I did a day in the life and a day out to the Horashim Forest. (I also did an updated what’s in my carry on compared to my 2015 one).
March – All things Israel kicked off! I visited three of the major cities and did several posts on what to do in each one and where to eat. Haifa was first with the Bahai Gardens, Mount Carmel and delicious brunch. Tel Aviv I divvied up with in the city activities, the outer city and amazing salads galore. I did a few more day trips to Caesarea right by Haifa and also the breathtaking Makhtesh Ramon – an absolute must!
May – I also did a sneaky video of my trip, something I’m not sure I want to continue into 2017 – we’ll see how it goes.
June – Was all about settling and getting into a life routine. I’m still unsure if I’ve got this down but it’s on the verge I think.
July – My birthday bucket list! I reassessed last year’s and wrote a brand spanking new one. I love new year resolutions, so having this mid-year challenge is great.
August – The Scandi trip I took in May/June finally got put up – can you tell I had a crazy few months job hunting/apartment hunting/life figuring out? I kicked things off with Copenhagen and a trip north to a castle, follow by activities to do in the city featuring water and on land. Copenhagen was probably one of my favourite cities of the year (in fact I went back a few weeks’ ago for a cheeky weekend). There’s just something so peaceful and charming about it that I absolutely love.
September – With SAS I flew to Stockholm and got my Eurovision on. It was a very unique experience and something I’d love to do again should the right country host. Then on to Oslo to finish the Scandi trio. I saw viking ships and ski jumps to the extreme.
October – From Oslo I trained to Flam and saw some stunning countryside (definitely get out of cities when you can and experience rural life). Then the trip ended in Bergen with fish, views and fjord magic. From one trip to another and I went to Valencia with Air Europa. This was a bucket list item to go to La Tomatina in Spain!
November – I finally got to go to La Tomatina! After years of looking it up and having it in the back of my mind, I took the plunge and went. It was really mad and something I’m not sure I’d do again haha but so so so glad I did.
