As 2015 is almost over I thought I’d do a good old fashioned recap of the year on Adam Inflight. I really tried to get more into blogging and I think I did a pretty good job with regularly posting (at least towards the second part of the year). There are a ton of links here but hopefully it’s a post you can check back on when you want something to read or just give it a scan and see if something grabs your eye! I hope you all have a happy new year and here’s to an adventurous 2016!
January – I spent Christmas 2014 in Iceland and had two posts up about my time there. The first was of things to do in the city of Reykjavik, and the other of things to do outside the city. Iceland is definitely a country I want to go back and visit, and maybe even hop over to Greenland. All the people I encountered there were friendly and helpful, and although we only had a few hours of daylight it was really magical (especially getting to see the northern lights).
February – New Year was spent in Fargo, North Dakota. Many people thought I was crazy for going there as the winters are awful but I’m glad I braved it! Having a truly white winter and spending it with friends was great fun. If you’re ever in/around that area check out Fargo as it is definitely blossoming into a hip place with microbreweries and independent cinemas.
March – I decided to continue my Help Series and go more in-depth with packing/how I pack. I think this is something I’m going to do yearly so I’ll do an updated version sometime in 2016. For now though you can see how I pack a checked bag and also what I take in my carry-on.
April – Going to Canada is one of my favourite things to do and this time was no different! I went with my friend Mel and after picking up McDeal we did a roadtrip around Lake Erie. We stopped in Detroit and then Cleveland so I got to cross off more states from my list. I enjoy roadtrips so much but maybe that’s because I don’t drive on them haha. We also flew WestJet and Air Canada (two airlines I’ve never gone with before), so I reviewed them and shared my experience – one definitely trumped the other.
May – This month was pretty personal as I was graduating/moving/figuring out life. The only post I put up was a Life Update oops. Instead of linking just that one though I’ll link the archive of them so you can go through the rise and fall of my year haha.
June – I put up a delayed roadtrip that I did with my sister and brother-in-law to the Smoky Mountains. We saw bears, incredible scenery and went to Dolly’s Dixie Stampede hah. Tennessee and North Carolina are good places to explore and experience the great outdoors.
July – My birthday month and therefore my birthday bucket list post. Spoiler alert – I have accomplished some of them already! I also went on a mammoth USA trip extravaganza full of roadtrips, trains, planes and buses. I manage to accomplish a ton of the states (thanks to the wonderful Alden) and get up to 48 seen. I visited Memphis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Little Rock and Louisville. All of them unique to one another and I think interesting reads (I’m bias though).
August – One of the best trips of my life happened in August and it was to Alaska. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I did and I can’t recommend going highly enough. I actually already did a ‘review’ post with all the links so you can check that out here and if you’re going to read something of mine make it this! I also did some more reviewing as I’m obnoxious – Megabus, Alaska Air and JetBlue.
September – To continue with the west coast theme I went on a British Columbia trip with my friend Rachel and we hit up Vancouver, Whistler and Victoria. It was stunning and I had always wanted to go to the western side of Canada. I also flew in and out of Seattle so did a cheeky little post there. This month also saw me starting a new section on Adam Inflight called Up & Adam where it’s more prose/writing/anecdote style and the first post was on Strangers. I also continued the help series with how I plan trips and my travel inspiration (and I think some of you enjoyed that so I might elaborate on it more next year).
October – These later month paragraphs are starting to get longer now haha. After living in Boston for a few months I figured it was time I showed you round the city so I did three posts on the city, the food and the islands. (and let’s throw in a review of their bike share Hubway). Following my Delta International review, my Japan posts started! They lasted around two weeks as I wanted to go as in-depth and full on as I could. To check them out click here for the overall post and boy oh boy it’s a good dose of reading haha.
November – Things got animated and I made my first video! It is part of a series I’m doing called Let’s go! and it was from my time in Japan. I also officially moved out of New York and reflected on that. Even more reviews with WOW air (which was outstanding), easyHotel in Zurich and all about WWOOFing which I can’t recommend enough. I think a lot of my reviews are pretty positive but I guess I’m super easy to please?
December – A spontaneous trip to Zurich happened and I explored the city, outer city and made another video to follow the new trend! I of course started another potential series (oh boy) called Guest Inflight, as well as talked about graffiti, travel apps and a trip to Winterville. Who knows what January will bring!
