Time for something festive on the blog! London has a lot on for the holidays including pop-up ice rinks, big Xmas trees, lights galore in the shopping areas and some great markets. A few days ago I went to Winterville with some friends. It’s based in Victoria Park and is a market/theme park hybrid of all things Christmas.
We got there early at around noon and the whole park was pretty dead. By mid-afternoon it was starting to pick up though and I’m sure evenings are when it is really popping. At Winterville there’s the usual fairground rides, food stands galore (all of which looked delicious including churros, pies, vegetarian options), ice rink, craft market etc. Entertainment wise they have a panto, outdoor cinema and circus. They definitely supply a lot so you’ll make a day of it shopping, playing, eating and spending money money money. None of the rides really appealed to us as most of them were targeted at children. We did the circus, ice skating (attempted) and had mulled wine with pies.
I think for a day out and to get in the festive mood it’s a great place. Me and my friends were laughing and smiling throughout. However in terms of going back I probably wouldn’t. It’s a bit annoying to get to and a been there/done that place (although they heavily try luring you back with lots of two for one coupons on the way out). Give it a try though as it’s a more pleasant experience to the business of Winter Wonderland! I hope you’re all having a great holiday and spending it with your loved ones!
