Lots of new things happening on the blog lately including a #tbt here. One or two summer’s ago I went to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London, aka all things Harry Potter behind the scenes. I recently found the photos on an old hard drive and figured it was worth mentioning on here. There is a possibility some parts might be outdated but I’m pretty sure the whole jist is still the same. Plus I mean who can resist a bit of HP?
To start buy your tickets online and you’ll get an allocated time/date. To get there I’d recommend public transport and take the train to Watford Junction and then there’s a shuttle bus. The studio is in the middle of nowhere (and therefore very huge and will take up several hours of your day). It’s all self-guided as you walk through the different areas and find out about the props, costume design, sets, animal training etc. The amount of effort that was put into these designs to help bring the world to life is incredibly impeccable. You get to see the puppetry and masks, as well as miniature paper landscapes and fake custom stationary. Other highlights for me included the physical sets like the great hall and potions class. They have Hagrid’s motorbike, the night bus and the Weasley blue car in the back. As with any ‘touristy’ place there is a flying broom green screen video thing and butterbeer to buy and drink halfway through. The gift shop is all you would expect with wands, magical candy and Hogwarts merch. I’m keeping this brief to not spoil any of the surprises and honestly after writing this I kind of want to go back asap. If you fancy yourself a wizard fan or just want to escape the Muggles for a few hours, come check it out and explore the magic.
