I absolutely love birthdays. I think they are the perfect opportunity to have some fun, go on adventures and really do something wild. It’s a great excuse to celebrate that particular person (or if it’s your own go treat and splurge yourself).
It was my birthday yesterday and I’ve decided that I want to start creating Birthday Bucket Lists – things that I want to get done by my next birthday (aka 2016). I figured it would be interesting to post it here so a) you can have a snoop and b) it will help me stick to doing them maybe? They are all travel(ish) related and hopefully not unrealistic.
- Finish my fifty state challenge. I want to have been to every US state which is probably pretty likely considering I’ve hit up 49 as I write this haha. All that’s left is Hawaii and I’m planning to head there around Christmas so fingers crossed!
Go to Eurovision.I happily accomplished this! I got to go to Stockholm and saw several jury rehearsals and a semi-final live. The whole atmosphere and experience was amazing and I can’t recommend it enough. I will 100% be going again in the future.
Many people reading this might have no idea what that is haha but I have always dreamed and told myself I would go and this year there will be no excuses! It’s a giant singing competition that the majority of Europe enters (check it out here if you want). This upcoming year it is being held in Sweden and I am going to go providing I can get tickets.
Visit Scandinavia.Luckily I did get to tie this in with Eurovision. I hit up Norway, Denmark and Sweden (someday I’ll get to Finland). The countries are so different but all have such friendly, well-educated and helpful people in them. Check out my Scandi posts to see what I got up to!
This ties in perfectly with the previous one. I’ve been wanting to visit Sweden, Norway, Denmark (and let’s throw in Finland) for several years now but was always distracted by other trips and goals. I am making it a priority this year and I want to spend a good two or three weeks heading round. If possible I’ll try and tie in Eurovision with it as I mean two birds one stone right?
- Go on a blimp. I think having something unrealistic is important and this is that. From my research there are only two or three blimps around the US and they all seem to be invitation only (with getting an invitation near impossible). However when you fall of that bicycle you get back on it and therefore I won’t give up that easily. If anyone has any connections or ideas let me know!
Magic Castle.I managed to cross this one off pretty early! I love, love, love magic and getting to go was everything to me. If you ever know someone or get the chance to spend an evening there, you will no doubt be amazed.
Everytime I go to LA I dream of getting inside but always forget to ask around beforehand. Fingers crossed this will remind me so that I can start hassling my friends and get in there. I absolutely love all things magic and can’t wait to finally be amazed by their talented members. (If you have no idea what this is then click here).
Podcasts. One of my favourite things on commutes is to listen to podcasts now. I love Serial and This American Life and just want to keep finding more and more.
My friend Ray got me inspired by this one as whenever she is working she listens to podcasts. I want to start getting into doing this whilst travelling/taxiing. I tend to just stare out the window on trains and planes but why can’t I do that and listen to something profound? If you have any good recommendations let me know!
So I guess let’s see how it goes and we can come back and check this out next year haha.
