It seems to be a trend that I’m going to show one place I ate at in each post haha. On the way to Four Corners we stopped off at this place called Amigo Cafe which was in Kaytena, AZ. It was a cute shack with some decorations and they had custom mugs. I got the enchilada platter and it was actually kinda gross. I was expecting good Mexican food being close to New Mexico but maybe I’m just used to Chipotle and New York Mexican interpretation? Their sign outside said ‘great food’, we all decided it was more ‘ok’ food.
Made it into New Mexico State and we suddenly hit really bad traffic and weren’t sure why. In the distance we saw lots of lights and it ended up being a fair! The Northern Navajo Nation Fair 2013 just happened to be on so we decided to pull over and check it out. There was a cowgirl rodeo and I got to try some fry-bread which basically tasted like funnel cake without the sweet sugar. The rides were pretty intense including this one that just went loop to loop over and over for five minutes. We were definitely the outcasts as the majority of people were Native American and it did feel like we were vampires amongst the wolf pack but everyone was super friendly and it was really fun. We don’t really have good fairs in the UK, the US definitely rocks that one. Made it to Farmington, NM and hit the zzz’s hard.
